FIMER R SERIES PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTERS: DEDICATED TESTING SYSTEM FOR POWER STACKS

STI Repair - Serie R - Collaudo Power Stack - Evidenza

In the process of repairing a photovoltaic inverter, testing is, without a doubt, the most important moment; it is at this stage, in fact, that both the effectiveness and reliability of the workmanship performed are found.

For this reason, we decided to invest significant resources in the realization of what we now like to call AD/DC Ring Test, i.e., a test area consisting of centralized photovoltaic inverters acquired from the secondary market and connected to an ad hoc designed and built management system.
This makes it possible to test every single component of the inverter (e.g., power module, electronic board, etc.) within its “native” context, thus realizing a 100% reliable functional test.

The AC/DC Ring Test is designed to be continuously expanding and transforming with the clear intent of following technological evolution, market opportunities, and the specific needs of the customers served.
Although this approach is effective, however, it is not always possible to find decommissioned inverters to be subservient to the testing needs; when the native inverter is not available, a test/test system must be implemented through the “discrete reconstruction” of the converter being addressed.

A concrete example of the implementation of a dedicated test bench is what was done on behalf of one of the world’s leading energy operators, namely the design and implementation of Bespoke Test Bench conceived for testing FIMER Power Stacks (power modules) installed on FIMER R SERIES inverters (3015TL, 12715TL, 14015TL, 15015TL, 6800TL, 7500TL, 10015TL, R11015TL).

Thanks to in-house expertise in the design and implementation of switchboards and industrial automation systems, it was possible to engineer and build a customized solution for testing FIMER R-series IGBT modules, as well as the main inverter electronic boards (Supervisor, IGBT Drivers, etc.).

The testing system is still used today to test FIMER power modules from all over the World; after repair, in fact, the IGBT Power Stacks are 100% tested (power, control and communication).
In this way, a reliable and guaranteed service can be delivered.
