STI REPAIR A KEY ENERGY 2026

Key Energy 2026 was more than just a trade show for STI Repair. It was our first official participation as a company specializing in the repair and remanufacturing of photovoltaic inverters, and from the very first moment we sensed enthusiasm, curiosity, and great interest in the topic of business continuity of photovoltaic systems.

Key Energy has now become the reference point in Italy for the renewable energy sector, and participating meant getting to the heart of the technical debate on the future of energy--photovoltaics, storage, inverters, digitization and the circular economy.

For STI Repair, it was a confirmation: the topic of life-extension of photovoltaic inverters is more relevant today than ever before.

The vision

2010 TO 2026:
TWO MOMENTS OF THE SAME VISION

My last participation in an exhibition was in 2010 at Solar Expo Verona, when I presented a very special project: an in-house designed biaxial photovoltaic tracker, unique in the world because it was based on PLC technology with an astronomical algorithm.

After 16 years I am returning to the fair with a new challenge.

Today our focus is no longer the tracker, but something even more strategic: the business continuity of photovoltaic inverters and the circular economy applied to energy systems.

Networking

MEET CUSTOMERS:
THE GREATEST VALUE OF A TRADE SHOW

Key Energy 2026 was especially an opportunity to meet with many of our customers, technical partners, and operators in the PV industry.

We discussed:

  • Repair and remanufacture of multi-brand photovoltaic inverters
  • Plant life-extension strategies
  • Management of technological obsolescence
  • New requirements related to BESS and storage systems.

It was an important moment of technical but also human discussion. Because behind every photovoltaic inverter is an investment that must be protected over time.

Collaboration and the future

INVERTER REPAIR AND COLLABORATION
WITH MANUFACTURERS

During Key Energy 2026, we also brought some really failed inverters to the exhibition to show concretely what it means to do service in the photovoltaic world.

The industry is entering a new phase: more and more plants are 10-15 years old, and advanced maintenance and remanufacturing of inverters are becoming a central issue in protecting the value of plants.

We believe that intelligent collaboration between inverter manufacturers and independent repair centers can generate benefits for the entire industry, especially for investors who need to ensure long-term business continuity.

During the fair, I also had the pleasure of recounting this vision in aninterview with Solare B2B, one of Italy's leading energy media.

In the video we discuss:

  • Circular economy in photovoltaics
  • Continuity of operation of inverters
  • Role of independent repair centers
  • Evolution of the energy market
The message is simple: protecting existing facilities is as important as building new ones.
The future

THE FUTURE:
ENERGY CONTINUITY

Key Energy 2026 confirmed something very simple for us: the future of energy is not only about production, but also about the ability to keep plants efficient over time.

STI Repair will continue to work in this direction, developing increasingly advanced skills in the repair and remanufacturing of photovoltaic inverters.

Because every inverter that comes back on means:

  • Less electronic waste
  • More plant efficiency
  • Increased investment protection

Frequently asked questions

QUESTIONS ON REPAIR
OF PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTERS

During the fair, many questions emerged from practitioners, investors and industry technicians. We have collected the most frequently asked ones here.

What is Key Energy and why is it important for the PV industry?
Key Energy is one of Europe's leading trade shows dedicated to renewable energy and the energy transition. The event brings together manufacturers, developers, investors and industry players to discuss technological innovations, plant maintenance and new opportunities in the energy market.
Why is PV inverter repair becoming increasingly important?
Many PV systems installed between 2008 and 2015 are entering a stage of technological maturity. In this context, repair and remanufacturing of inverters becomes critical to ensure business continuity of plants and protect operators' investment.
When is it worthwhile to repair a PV inverter instead of replacing it?
In most cases, repair is cost-effective when the inverter is between 5 and 15 years old and the failure involves replaceable electronic components. Repair work can significantly reduce costs compared to complete replacement of the equipment.
What is the life-extension of photovoltaic systems?
Life-extension is the set of technical activities to extend the useful life of a PV system beyond the period initially planned. It includes advanced maintenance, regeneration of inverters, upgrading of control systems, and improvement of plant performance.
What is the role of independent repair centers in the PV industry?
Specialized independent repair centers such as STI REPAIR make it possible to support systems installed even many years ago that are often no longer covered by direct manufacturer service. This helps to keep plants operational and reduce downtime.
