Better manage your Asset
Our Repair, Regeneration and Swap services enable you to better manage your Asset (PV System), achieve a major increase in inverter availability rate, yield and overall return on investment.
It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to refurbish faulty inverters that have been stopped due to inactivity; repairing instead of replacing is the best and suitable solution for you.
WHY CHOOSE STI REPAIR
This type of inverter, designed for large PV systems and often installed in climatically severe environments, requires special attention to thermal management.
The high powers involved and the typical operating conditions of many international photovoltaic parks make it essential that the entire cooling system, both in its active components-sensors and thermal protection devices-and in its passive components, namely the aluminum dissipative structures, function properly.
For this reason, we perform additional verification and regeneration activities specifically dedicated to thermal management of the system on this family of inverters.
TESTING OF PROTECTIVE DEVICES AND THERMAL MONITORING
Thermal protections and temperature probes play a key role in managing the temperature of power modules and preventing overheating conditions in the inverter.
All devices are checked and tested individually. Thermal protections and probes are maintained only if they pass the required functional tests and fall within the correct operating parameters.
These components are routinely replaced to restore the highest level of system reliability and ensure accurate temperature monitoring and safe intervention of thermal protectors over time.
COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF THE COOLING SYSTEM
The cooling system of these inverters is composed of dynamic and passive elements that must work in perfect synergy.
Fans are disassembled, cleaned, checked, and mechanically rebalanced when necessary, replacing components only when there is actual damage. The condition of the aluminum heat sinks is checked, with special attention to the contact surface with the power modules.
The system is completely restored: mechanical overhaul of the fans with replacement of wear elements and flattening machining of the aluminum heat sinks, restoring perfect surface flatness to ensure maximum heat transfer efficiency to the IGBTs.
Repair
The fastest and most reliable solution to restore your faulty inverter.

Choose a circular economy, Choose the "Swap"
Repairing and Regenerating faulty inverters instead of replacing them with new ones avoids waste, improving plant efficiency and resilience without increasing waste; adopting a circular model such as SWAP promotes global sustainability, combats climate change, and greatly reduces e-waste, demonstrating how even replacing small components can prevent the unnecessary disposal of many more.

Upon arrival at the Laboratory, the INVERTER is unpacked by an initial trained technician who performs a visual check in order to detect any external damage caused by transport and verifies the correspondence of the data on the ticket. Next, the technician proceeds to open the equipment to thoroughly inspect all components. If problems such as broken connectors, damage to the casing, broken boards, fire damage, or the presence of additional or mismatched parts emerge, our service department will contact the customer and provide a detailed report on the anomalies found.
|
|
|
After passing the acceptance phase, the inverter is scheduled and each phase tracked. The second step takes it to the testing area for a DIAGNOSIS under load, that is, the inverter is put into operation to perform a series of tests designed to confirm the defect reported by the customer and to identify possible secondary or additional problems. This method is designed to provide the repair technician with a detailed picture of the condition of the inverter, thus facilitating and speeding up subsequent repair steps.

|
|
In the case of REPAIR, the inverter is handed over to the product specialist. The repair process has three main stages: 1) the REPAIR of failed components is carried out; 2) by means of a PRE-COLLAUDO the successful completion of the repair is verified; 3) The inverter returns to the laboratory for a FULL EXAMINATION of all components. This step is crucial because, unlike remanufacturing, the repair focuses only on the specific failure, and to ensure the coverage time of the issued warranty, all other components must have an acceptable level of wear and tear. In case of abnormal wear and tear, our service department will contact the customer and propose remanufacturing or replacement of the components above the threshold.

In case this is the customer’s choice, or a mandatory condition due to extraordinary failures, REGENERATION, unlike repair, is a process that invests all components of the equipment ultimately making it MORE RESILIENT thanks to equivalent but more modern components. The process consists of three main steps:
1) REPAIR of the failed components is carried out;
2) by means of a PRE-COLLAUDO the successful completion of the repair is verified;
3) REGENERATION, once the successful completion of the repair is ascertained, we move on to replace all SENESCENT components that have reached, or are reaching, the end of their useful life (e.g. capacitors, sensors), flushing and tropicalization of all electronic boards, replacement of worn electromechanical parts (e.g., bearings, fans, contactors, screws, etc.), eventual sandblasting of copper bars, aluminum, and mechanical parts that show rust to finish with eventual painting.

The testing of this special solar converter consists of two phases:
A) as extensively explained in the GATE UNIT LINK section, it is tested on its own on a special bench that simulates all its conditions until a 100% positive report is obtained,
B) a specialized operator, other than the repair technician, provides the IGBT POWER STACK to the solar inverter which, connected to our DC system that simulates the solar tracking of a typical day, pushes the equipment to its maximum performance (even up to 24h). A series of stress-tests are then carried out to ensure that all parameters meet the expected standards.
If further problems are detected, the equipment is sent back to the Laboratory for necessary corrections.

In the WARRANTY area, the technician performs the last visual inspection. Checks the fastening of all components, cleans and vacuums any residue from machining, closes the equipment, and affixes warranty seals.

The IGBT POWER BLOCK, returns to the logistics area where it will be packed with special ISPM-15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures) certified wooden crates ready to be shipped worldwide.
Take a look at these, considered carcasses to be looted by our customers, are now, thanks to our expertise, back in perfect shape.
In fact, thanks to remanufacturing they are performing better than ever!
